WHAT THE FOUNDATION WILL DO
• Sponsor training opportunities to strengthen the leadership capacities of
municipal elected and appointed officials. Leadership development may include
training for first-time mayors, veteran governing board members and appointed
officials on North Carolina laws and procedures; workshops on ways to improve
consensus building and citizen participation; or training on building
intergovernmental cooperation.
• Sponsor educational workshops on topical issues for municipal officials, including informational workshops on environmental trends, compliance with regulatory requirements, transportation, e-government, infrastructure funding or information technology developments.
• Sponsor research into best practices related to municipal services, such as solid waste practices, water and sewer rate analysis, innovative technologies and environmental studies.
• Sponsor activities designed to foster civic awareness and civic engagement by citizens of the state.
